Corporate History

The James F.  Riordan Company, Inc.  got its start in 1976, part time, in a garage in San Jose California.  Originally named "Overnight Engineering", our mission was to provide quick turnaround product design solutions for Silicon Valley companies in desperate and immediate need of retrofittable "fixes" for problems discovered after new product releases.  We were inventing for a living, selling companies our solutions.  In 1979 we moved to a larger facility, went full time, and incorporated in 1981.  In 1989 we moved to our Cameron Park, California location, nestled in the history-rich California Gold Country, just minutes from the gold discovery site at Sutter's Sawmill in Coloma. 
 
 

For over twenty-five years we have been inventing for a living.

We have a long and proven track record of developing and marketing our own ideas and products and helping our corporate and individual clients improve, market, sell outright or license their ideas products, and trademarks.  Our client list includes multinational corporations such as 3M, Uniden, BF Goodrich, Hasbro-Kenner, Whamo, BASF, Apple, Qume, many fortune five hundred companies, N.A.S.A, Stanford Research Hospital and hundreds of individual inventors.
